STATE GUIDES

Welcome, Poll Watchers!

Click on your State’s name below to download a handy resource guide. Every state has its own set of laws regarding volunteer poll watchers. To be an effective poll watcher you must know and understand the “do’s and don’ts” of poll watching for your state. An asterisk (*) denotes a battleground state where we need to ensure that we have volunteer poll watchers in place!

Note: Resources are available for 47 of 50 states; as of September 2018, three states (Oregon, Nebraska and West Virginia) have no resources available according to the National Association of Secretaries of State.

“Poll Watchers” is the term we use to describe this duty, but some states may use a differing term in their legal statutes such as “Election Observers” or “Challengers.”
