Today I want to challenge us with “Why We Should Seek God’s Anointing Over America’s Ballot Boxes, and Why As Christians We Should Be Seeking God To Anoint Us To Participate In And Reclaim America’s Elections and The Election Processes.
There are 3 reasons we should do this:
God Inspired America’s Founders To Create This Nation By Applying Biblical Values To Civics.
When Biblical Values Are Honored, Respected, Encouraged and Manifested in Civics, People Are Able To Live Under The Umbrella Consensus Of God’s Will For Society
When God’s people do not stand in the gap for their nation’s politics and government, Satan occupies that territory to abused people through the evils of abortion, homosexuality, and the mass violence we see through the Antifa movement that calls conservative Christians names and advocates beating us up on the streets. Many politicians are calling “spontaneous free speech” the staged demonstrations of people carrying professionally printed signs that had to be ordered in bulk in advance, and the club-wielding rioters who are bussed into events wearing black clothing and masks, who are allowed by the police to attack others who are trying to exercise our First Amendment rights to peacefully assemble to ask the government to redress our grievances!
Do you see the danger we are in people? Do you sense the danger today’s school children are in? Do you sense the danger your children and grandchildren are in?
Point # 1: Why do I say America was founded as a Christian nation? Christians founded America. When true Christians found or start something, they put God and His Word in the center of it. The Puritans who fled England were seeking a place where they could live for God publicly, as the Bible says. In America they got free from the Catholic Church manipulating the governments of Europe to use their armies and police forces to stomp out Biblical Christianity, and they asked God to empower them with the Holy Spirit to guide them about how they shall live and govern themselves.
Let me give you an overview of the Spiritual and intellectual evolution that transitioned America to what I am going to explain what Pastor Earl Wallace terms “The Biblical Basis of The Bill of Rights,” which means there is a Biblical Foundation of the 10 Commandments that parallel 10 US Bill of Rights. Each Bill of Right safeguards our rights by ensuring government treats “we the people” according to the 10 Commandments.
The first document that articulated what America’s early Christians were striving to obtain is “The Mayflower Compact” of 1620. In schools they don’t teach the Mayflower Compact anymore. Even when we learned about it during our school days, parts about God were left out. Here is what Americas’ first foundational document actually reads:
In the name of God, Amen. We whose names are underwritten, the loyal subjects of our dread sovereign lord King James, by the grace of God, of Great Britain, France, and Ireland King, Defender of the faith, etc. Having undertaken, for the glory of God, and advancement of the christian faith, and honor of our king and country, a voyage to plant the first colony in the northern parts of Virginia, do by these presents solemnly and mutually in the presence of God and one of another, covenant, and combine ourselves together into a civil body politic, for our better ordering and preservation, and furtherance of the ends aforesaid;
And by virtue hereof to enact, constitute, and frame such just and equal laws, ordinances, acts, constitutions, offices from time to time, as shall be thought most meet and convenient for the general good of the colony: unto which we promise all due submission and obedience. In witness whereof we have hereunder subscribed our names; Cape Cod, the 11th of November, in the year of the reign of our sovereign lord King James, of England, France and Ireland eighteenth and of Scotland fifty-fourth, Anno Domini 1620.
“Just and equal laws” – mean they want to reflect God’s Biblical laws in the civil body politic, to which each person equally submits — from the youngest at the age of accountability to those appointed as magistrates, mayors and governors. In other words they are agreeing to “self-govern” under God’s law, and conform their civic life to God’s love as expressed through the 10 Commandments. Now the purpose for doing this they say is “ for the general good of the colony,” and “for our better ordering and preservation, and furtherance of the ends aforesaid,” which are “for the glory of God, and advancement of the christian faith.”
The transition of their thinking and prayers and Holy Spirit anointing led to The Declaration of Independence, which mentions God 5 times as 1) Nature’s God, 2) Creator, 3) Prudence and divine Providence, and 4) Supreme Judge. It’s most popular point states:
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their creator with certain inalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. – that to secure these rights, Governments are instituted
In The Declaration of Independence, America’s Founding Fathers recognized and acknowledged:
- God gives Us Our rights (not institutions) and
- Government’s Role is to Cooperate with God to
- Secure the Biblical Rights God Gives Us
Here are some quotes from some of America’s Founders that explain their support of these concepts,:
John Jay, the first Chief Justice of The Supreme Court said in a letter to Jedidiah Morse in 1797. “Providence has given to our people the choice of their rulers, and it is the duty, as well as the privilege and interest of our Christian nation to select and prefer Christians for their rulers.” He said this because Christians are the ones most likely to want to play by the rules of The Bill of Rights, which safeguard that government is to treat “we the people” according to the 10 Commandments.
The reason the Founders said only Christians should be in charge of the US Government, is because America was founded as a Christian nation, which is defined as one in which the principles of Biblical Christianity are established and promoted in civic and public life.
Look at what the US Supreme Court ruled in both 1799 and 1892:
In 1799 the Supreme Court ruled that “by our form of government, the Christian religion is the established religion.”
In the 1892, case of “The Church Of The Holy Trinity vs. United States,” the Supreme Court, examined hundreds of state constitutions, court cases, and other historical documents and reached the following conclusion:
“There is a universal language pervading them all, having one meaning: they affirm and reaffirm that this is a religious nation. These are not individual sayings, declarations of private individuals: they are organic utterances: they speak the language of the entire people … These and many other matters which might be noticed, add a volume of unofficial declarations to the mass of organic utterances that this is a Christian nation (Supreme Court Case: v. The Holy Trinity, Cited: Feb 29, l892).
We see how the principles of Biblical Christianity are expressed in civics when America’s Founding Fathers state in The Declaration of Independence that we have “INALIENABLE Rights that come from Our CREATOR.” The inalienable rights they mention also are called our “Natural Rights.” These rights come from God and are what He secures for us through the 10 COMMANDMENTS!
The Ten Commandments express the following: (Show a Slide or chart of the 10 Cmds)
- Cmd # 6 says we each have a right not to be murdered;
- Cmd # 7 says we each have a right not to be sexually molested;
- Cmd # 8 says we each have a right not to be murdered;
- Cmd # 9 says we each have a right not to be lied to nor about,
- Cmd # 10 says we each have a right not to have our persons, people, positions and possessions coveted by people who would use government power to deny us the blessings God provides for us.
When we consider the leaders God calls us men to be we see …
- Cmd # 5 says we each have a right to our family sanctity and privacy — as long as we are not violating the 10 Cmds against each other.
When we consider the relationship with God we see …
- Cmd # 1 says we each have a right to worship God and only God;
- Cmd # 2 says we each have a right not to worship idols;
- Cmd # 3 says we each have a right to speak and treat God’s name with reverence and respect;
- Cmd # 4 says we each have a right to attend a church that honors God’s commandments and the totality of what He explains in Scripture.
America’s first President, George Washington added to his first oath of office the words “so help me God” and kissed the Bible. He understood that a democracy would thrive and survive only if its citizens adhered to Biblical principles.
Washington declared in his 1796 farewell address, “Reason and experience both forbid us to expect that the national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principle.”
Washington said, everything I have thought about, studied and learned, and and everything I’ve experienced, informs me that religion — meaning The Biblical Christianity they practiced is the only way for morality to prevail in our daily national life. The reason Washington was concerned about morality is because of how the Founders wanted America’s civic life to be a 10 Commandments based culture.
In a 1778 address to the Virginia General Assembly, James Madison, statesman, political theorist, and who’d become America’s fourth U.S. President, said, “We have staked the whole future of American civilization, not upon the power of the government, far from it. We have staked the future of all of our political institutions upon the capacity … of each and all of us to govern ourselves, to control ourselves, to sustain ourselves according to the Ten Commandments of God.”
John Quincy Adams wrote, So great is my veneration for the Bible that the earlier my children begin to read it the more confident will be my hope that they will prove useful citizens of their country and respectable members of society. I have for many years made it a practice to read through the Bible once every year.
Andrew Jackson: on the Bible, “That book, sir, is the rock on which our republic rests.”
BTW – all the above quotes were compiled by Henry H. Halley, in Halley’s Bible Handbook (Grand Rapids, MI: Zondervan Publishing House, 1965), pages 18-19.
Thomas Jefferson was a Born Again Christian who financially supported churches of multiple denominations. Thomas Jefferson noted in his Memorandum Book:
“I have subscribed to the building of an Episcopalian church, two hundred dollars; a Presbyterian church, sixty dollars, and a Baptist church, twenty-five.”
On July 14, 1826, the Boston newspaper Christian Watchman printed that Jefferson dined at Monticello prior to the Revolutionary War with Baptist Pastor Andrew Tribble. “The story described how Jefferson inquired of Pastor Tribble how Baptist church government worked, then Jefferson stated that he “… considered it the only form of pure democracy that exists in the world … It would be the best plan of government for the American colonies.”
Jefferson did not tear pages out of the Bible to denigrate it. He purchased multiple copies of The Bible and pieced together from their various pages a summarized harmony of the Gospels to evangelize and teach the Kaskaskia Indian Tribe, who Jesus is. Thomas Jefferson suffered from an injury to his dominant hand, which made it painful for him to write. So he cut and pasted actual pages from multiple Bibles to make the first drafts of the Abridgment. He then sent his makeshift draft to the printer. Jefferson called this work “An Abridgment of the Gospel for the Use of Educating Indians.”
The First Amendment of the US Constitution conjoins five rights beginning with “freedom of religion” because Biblical Christianity – the only religion America’s Founders practiced – is supposed to guide the other four elements of the amendment. This means:
Freedom of religion, meaning the free and public expression of Biblical Christianity, should inform our national conscience and is what should guide and motivate America’s civic life, including …
Biblical Christianity is to inform and be the guide of our sense of freedom of speech, both what should be considered wholesome and what is irreverent;
Biblical Christianity is to inform and guide the way the press should operate to report as criminal behavior that which the Bible calls public sin, and to report as noteworthy that which the Bible calls “praiseworthy.” No one wants public officials sneaking around and looking in people’s windows to invade their privacy, and publish people’s private sins in the media. But we do want the publication of sins that effect the public exposed and dealt with according to the due process rights under the law.
Biblical philosophy also is to guide the reasons why we peacefully assemble – especially for Bible studies and church services, and
Biblical values are to be the reason why we petition the government when it fails to treat “we the people’ according to the 10 Commandments. In such incidences America’s Founders admonished us to mass ourselves together and compel our government to redress our grievances
Jesus said, in John 8:32, “and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” Now if truth sets us free, what are lies going to do? Obviously, lies enslave us! As God’s people we need to get in touch with the real historical truths of our society, which actually are reconciled to the Biblical living God desires for all people. God is not willing that any should perish. since salvation only is through The Gospel of Christ, we need to understand two things:
America’s Founders linked in the US First Amendment of the Constitution “freedom of religion and freedom of speech, because it only is by freedom of speech that people are enabled to hear the Good News Of Jesus Christ.
When politicians and government officials suppress The Gospel of Jesus Christ, they literally are being used by Satan to advocate that millions and even billions of people are condemned to a Christliness eternity.
What Went Wrong In America. How did we lose the understanding of the connection between The Bible and The Bill of Rights and how our civics are supposed to work.
Well The American Civil Liberties Union began using the phrase “Separation of Church and State” in court filings to sever Americans from knowing how the Bible applies to our civics. The phrase “Separation of Church and State” neither appears in the US Constitution, nor can you justify it from reading The Bible, for God says He will judge the nations. He drowned Pharaoh’s army in the sea when that leader led his state to disobey God. God worked through Queen Esther to compel the government in which she served to spare the Jews. All Old Testament national success is due to God blessing nations when their leaders obey Him. All national failure results from the leaders disobeying God, and He responds by cursing the nation.
In 1954 The IRS implemented the 501(c)(3) “Separation of Church and State” policy, which was supported by then Senator Lyndon Baines Johnson, who was the Speaker of the Senate. The IRS 501(c)(3) “Separation of Church and State” policy never was voted on by Congress, so there really is no “Johnson Amendment” which the policy often is called. This lie gives US (pun intended) the impression that there actually has been a Congressional Amendment of the US Constitution that authorizes the institution of separating the application of the Bible from our nation’s civics. The IRS 501(c)(3) policy says, “Churches can participate in a new tax exemption, as long as they quit talking about politics from the pulpit.” I must note, we can download from the IRS a free PDF called IRS Publication 1828, which explains that churches have an automatic tax exemption from the First Amendment of the US Constitution, laws passed by Congress. Yet the IRS recommends that churches sign up under 501(c)(3), for which the IRS provides churches their “special tax exempt certificate, which will give their congregations more confidence in their tax exempt donations.”
I hope we are understanding what we are learning here? We just learned that in 1954 the IRS began encouraging churches, seminaries and Christian ministries to violate their first amendment free speech rights in exchange for continuing the tax exemption America’s Founders gave churches from the inception of our nation!
The phrase “Separation of Church and State” gives people the false impression that America should tolerate our government operating like China and Russia, where those state is under no obligation to treat their citizens according to the 10 Commandments – or any other Biblical principle. It gives the impression that government is supposed to operate completely free from Biblical values — as if God will not judge the nations, per Psalm 82:8. The phrase “Separation of Church and State” communicates the exact opposite of what the Declaration of Independence means, when it says governments are instituted to cooperate with God and secure the rights He gives people, such as those imbedded in the 10 Commandments, which are the right to not murdered, sexually molested, lied to or about, nor have government covet what God blesses us to own.
The phrase “Separation of Church and State” denies there are many benefits that accrue to societies that operate as Christian cultures with the Bible as the foundation of their ethics – the set of moral principles that govern expected behaviors.
What has resulted in America between 1954 and now is what Judges 2:10 explains happened to Israel. Here is what that passage says: “And all that generation also were gathered to their fathers. And there arose another generation after them who did not know the LORD or the work that he had done for Israel.” This means that when Joshua, who was Moses’s successor, died Israel denied that they were a nation that was founded by God!
Here what I am saying! Two generations after The LORD led Israel out of Egypt by performing the 10 Plagues and the Passover, and then giving them manna and learning them by a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night, the nation denied they that God had anything to do with founding or supporting them!
Tell me this is not what has happened in our nation? It is why the pastors of most churches will not discuss the loss of Biblical values in our civics. Many seminaries, churches and Christian ministries completely are ignorant of America’s true Biblically based History, and even deny that we ever were a Christian nation.
Thus today we see that public schools are being used to tell big lies about God’s basic truths. Schools today are controlled by non-Christian appointed government leaders who lie about God being The Creator of the universe. They are lying to deny how we are made in God’s image, and instead promote we are made in the image of primates. They are lying about the true Christian History of our nation, so our past, current and future generations will not understand what Pastor Earl Wallace calls “The Biblical Basis of The Bill of Rights!”
The Call Of Our Time Is To Recapture And ReAssert Into American Civics The Understanding Of The Biblical Basis of The Bill of Rights.
Do you sense God’s love for people who are victims of …
- the loss of morality and God’s wisdom in our civics
- the institutional denial of America’s Christian Heritage
- the government suppressing Biblical values
- schools teaching immorality instead of the 3-R’s
- young people as sheep without the Good Shepherd
- Sharia Law worming its way into our legal institutions
- popular culture teaching women are sexual playthings
- feminizing men to deny their Godly manhood.
- the evils of gender confusing our children
then I invite you to throw off the shackles of the deceptive shackles of the 501C3, “separation of church and state” mindset, and understand that as disciples of Christ in the tradition of what God gave America, which we are called to stand for Christ in the voting booth to show the world how the light of The Gospel is the solution to the deceptive bondage of spiritual darkness that is encompassing our beloved USA!
Where Do We Go From Here To See God’s Anointing On America’s Ballot Boxes
2 Chron. 7:14 says “If my people who are called by my name will do four things, then God says He will do three, which includes heal our land.” 2 Chron 7:14, says the four things we must do is 1) humble ourselves, 2) pray 3) seek God’s face and 4) turn from our wicked ways.
If we do the 4 things that are our part, God’s promises He will 1) hear from heaven; 2) will forgive our sin, and 3) heal our land.
Let me submit to you that America continues to decline and get worse and worse, while each year our churches sponsor and attend “National Day of Prayer” events. Why is God not responding to these events? Well, it is because we are not repenting of the lie of “separation of church and state.”
Think about it. We quote the phrase “separation of church and state” as if it is part of the Bible. That phrase, however, neither appears in the Bible nor in the US Constitution. We quote “separation of church and state” 51 weeks a year, and then one week a year we participate in National Prayer events to call upon God to intervene in the affairs of state, from which the rest of the year we proclaim He should be separate!
As the people called by God’s name, we need to repent of operating under the lie of “separation of church and state.” We can do this now, today, and begin to understand that God has not separated Himself from any part of His creation. That “the earth is the Lord’s and the fulness thereof” (1Cor 10:26, Ps. 24;1, Is. 2:8).
